Solar Power and the Environment
Generating solar power is clean — it doesn’t create CO2 or other chemical emissions. By going solar, in a 15 year time period a typical resident* will save:
150 pounds of nitrous oxide emissions
700 pounds of sulfur dioxide emissions
105,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions**
Saving 105,000 pounds of carbon is the equivalent of more than 8 years driving, or more than 100,000 miles. Or it’s the equivalent amount of carbon sequestered by 2/3 acre of trees over 15 years.
Energy from the sun is renewable — we won’t run out of it for generations and generations to come. Fossil fuels are precious resources that have enabled tremendous human prosperity. But, they are a finite resource — no one knows when we will lose the ability to supply our demand for fossil fuels, but we all know that day will come at some point. And some scientists, environmentalists, and energy industry insiders believe that we are fast approaching that point. At Ad Energy we believe we need to take this opportunity to transition to a renewable powered society now while we have the luxury of fossil fuels to help us to do it.
